Tynedale K9 Hydrotherapy believes that it is essential to establish a full understanding of the specific requirements of your dog.

Before any treatment commences we consult with both you and your veterinary surgeon to establish your dogs:

  • Full Medical History
  • Current Medical Condition
  • Fitness Level

NB: Treatment WILL NOT commence without a referral from a Veterinary Surgeon

Initial Assessment
All clients will be invited for an initial assessment; this usually last one hour and include a discussion to find out more about your dog.

Initial Treatment
At first your dog may only swim in the hydrotherapy pool for a short period of time; perhaps twice a week; longer swimming sessions will depend on fitness assessment results.

On-going Treatment
The recommended frequency of treatment for dogs that require long-term rehabilitation is weekly or fortnightly.

Treatment Review
Tynedale K9 Hydrotherapy will constantly review and adapt the treatment programme for your dog; according to its condition, progress and advice from your veterinary surgeon.

Pre Operative Treatment
For dogs about to under go surgery, a programme will be individually tailored according to advice from your veterinary surgeon. The treatment will be designed to gently build-up and tone muscles ahead of the operation and aid recovery afterwards.

Post Operative Treatment
In most cases dogs that have recently undergone surgery will receive their initial hydrotherapy treatment twice per week.

The treatment regime will be dependent on the length of time between surgery and the start of hydrotherapy.

NB: Treatment will only commence on the advice of your Veterinary Surgeon

Senior Programme
This programme is designed to maintain the mobility and fitness of older dogs feeling the effects of old age and arthritis.

Once again the treatment will be designed around the specific needs of your dog.

Initially the programme will consist of two sessions per week for five weeks; followed by ten weekly sessions.

It is recommended that an on-going programme of fortnightly sessions is followed to help maintain mobility.

Obesity Programme
The obesity programme is designed in conjunction with your veterinary surgeon’s recommended dietary regime to assist weight loss and improve fitness levels. Click here for more information on the weight loss and maintenance programme.
