I took my whippet to Tynedale K9 Hydrotherapy after he had extensive surgery for an elbow fracture. He was not using the leg at all and the vet had advised that the prognosis was poor if Harry did not start to bear weight on it within six weeks.
If Harry did not begin to use the leg there may have been no alternative to an amputation. Conventional physiotherapy was not possible because Harry would not tolerate the leg being touched.
He was introduced to hydrotherapy very gently and, despite being a nervous dog, his confidence was quickly built up by sensitive and knowledgeable handling.
Five weeks later after two sessions of hydrotherapy a week Harry was walking properly for two miles a day and well on the road to recovery. I am extremely grateful for the high level of expertise and care shown to Harry during his treatments and feel sure that they played a crucial part in his progress. Each session was different and tailored to Harry's needs with Lynne explaining the purpose of each process and how it added to Harry's general recovery.
